Bridging the Information Divide: the Methodology for Overcoming Data Silos (MODS)

Silos are ubiquitous in todays enterprises, and efforts to eliminate those silos have been largely ineffective. The traditional DBMS-OO-XML development stack is well-suited for building more silos, but not well-suited for bridging existing ones. This session explains how to deliver consistent, useful, reliable data that currently resides in disparate information silos to the businesspeople who need it to do their jobs. Research Director Lyn Robison explains how the new XQuery development stack can bridge application silos. He specifies the tools within this new stack and how to use them. This session will include:
• Using MODS to be a mammal amongst IT dinosaurs
• How to use these tools to bridge information silos
• Real-world experiences using this new stack
• The types of solutions that this dev stack addresses
